SPRING FLING 2017
EVENT
DETAILS
Swing-Out Edmonton is proud to present Spring Fling, our seventh annual lindy-hop workshop – one of the largest in Canada – featuring some of the best instruction and dancing you’ll find in the Prairies! Our schedule of events for the weekend is filled with awesome classes that are sure to challenge dancers of any experience level.
This year we are presenting three tracks of material: Intermediate for our newer dancers, Intermediate-Advanced for people with experience under their belts, and Advanced for long-time dancers wanting a real challenge!
We are excited to present our fantastic instructor lineup! Hailing from all corners of the world, we are pleased to present, Jenna Applegarth and Jon Tigart from Baltimore, Claudia Nobauer and Zac Sluys from Vancouver, and Jo Hoffberg and Nick Williams from California. Our star-studded lineup doesn’t end there however; Saturday night will be filled with music from a stellar live swing band, more information to come!

Tracked Classes
We’re letting our tracked classes be instructor's’ choice. You’ll still have 3 hours of tracked classes per day, but we are letting our talented instructors choose material they feel will most benefit and challenge you as dancers.
Airsteps (optional at additional cost)
Instead of waking up and smelling the coffee, at Spring Fling we like to wake up and send our partners flying. This class is open to anybody (who paid the optional class fee, of course), however we do require you have a set partner chosen ahead of time. Leads, prepare to do some lifting; follows, be prepared for your feet to leave the ground!
Solo Jazz
Dancing on your own is an important skill, and not just when there’s a surplus of leads or follows! Learn how to have a great time on the dance floor without needing a partner! Or if you’re already a stellar solo jazz dancer, you can step on up to the plate and be put through the paces in advanced solo jazz!
Some classes still to be determined.
Levels

Intermediate - You’ve learned the basics of 6-count, 8-count, and Charleston, although you’re still working on ironing out the rough patches. You have been dancing for about a year or less.
Intermediate Advanced - You can smoothly transition between 6-count, 8-count and Charleston. Your dancing is clean and structured, but still needs some work on the fundamentals. You have a moderately large swing dance vocabulary. This track is faster paced than the intermediate track and there will be a level check to join this class.
Advanced - You have been dancing for a couple of years and have experience on performance teams or teaching. You are comfortable dancing at a variety of tempos and to a variety of styles. Dancing is something you do all the time. This track is very fast paced and a level check is required.
